Module 2. Inforgraphics.

Smore is a tool to edit flyers, I think prezi is a much better option for storytelling. It's not easy to find a story that matches the limited space and format that most infographic tools offer. However it's a good application to use in class, very easy to use, so students can design their creations on their own.

Module 2.

Storytelling using prezi.

This is a story I love by an author I love David Mckey. I chose this story to do my prezi because it is a very simple story but good fun. I think it is really suitable for first of ESO students as it can enhance a good debate about family relationships.

I think prezi is a great tool to develop stories as it gives you so many possibilities, using both visual and audio materials. Children get easily engaged when images appear and when they hear their own teacher's voice, they will probably have a good laugh!

You can find lots of audio files such as special effects and songs on pages like freesound and bensound. It's really useful to be able to use all this material for free.

I had a really good time doing this activity with the help of my son!

I hope you enjoy it!!

Why storytelling?

Storytelling is for me one of the most useful and effective tools  in the classroom. Well, in fact, one of the most useful and amazing things we have in life!

Tell a story to your friends while sitting at a table having dinner together! if it's a good story, something unexpected! a tale with a twist!!..everybody loves it!!

Tell a  story  or try playing with story card games with friends on a trip to the mountains... feels great!!

Tell a story to your children before they go to sleep...soooo sweet!!

Tell  creepy stories to your students in Halloween!! They will adore you!!

Everybody loves stories, humans like telling stories and being told stories, that's why we read books, go to the cinema, go to the theatre and love good songwriters!!

Well, in fact as Philip Pullman said: “After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”

I have used storytelling in the classroom in different ways but mainly in the old traditional style, having my students sit in a circle around me and trying to create a nice atmosphere to listen to any kind of stories.

But, definitely audiovisuals are here, ready to be used and I would like to learn about new tools to make stories maybe more interactive and visual.

As for my expectations with this course,  I really would love to manage Kahoot, I've used it once as a participant but I would love to use it as a teacher with my students. And, as always, I hope to explore and share new materials with the other students in the course.

Welcome to IES Manacor Digital Storytelling

Hello there!! Ready to for stories?

In this blog we are going to learn about storytelling. We will read, listen, watch and create stories together. There millions of stories we have never heard about, but I'm sure you also know lots stories from your childhood, from books you have read and from films you have seen.

In this blog we are going to learn about stories from different cultures, from different places and from different authors, but specially about one of the great storytellers of all times, Roald Dahl. He is the writer of many of the best-known children's stories, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda.

But, let's stop talking and let's start with stories!!
